Should Spring and Fall Cleanups Be Included in Your Lawn Care Plan?

Yes. If you are paying for weekly lawn care, the spring and fall cleanups should be part of the plan, not something you remember to book twice a year. They are the two biggest jobs a lawn gets, and they are the two most likely to slip when they are left as extras.

Why mowing-only plans fall short

A mowing-only plan covers the easy months. The lawn gets cut from May to September, then the crew disappears right when the work gets heavy:

  • Spring: a winter of leaves, sticks, sand and matted grass on the lawn and in the beds. The lawn cannot wake up properly until that comes off, and the first mow of the year goes badly over debris.
  • Fall: every leaf on the property, often in two drops on oak lots, plus beds that need cutting back before the snow. Leaves left down smother the grass and invite snow mold.

When those jobs are separate, they have to be booked separately. Spring slots fill fast, the fall crew is chasing the leaf drop, and it is easy to end up with the cleanup happening late or not at all.

What a cleanup should include

Ask any lawn care company what their cleanups actually cover. Ours, on every plan:

Spring

  • Winter debris, fallen limbs and blown-in litter cleared off the whole property
  • Matted leaf litter lifted off the turf so air and light reach the grass
  • Road sand and salt pulled back off the lawn edge, which matters on shoreline properties
  • Perennials and grasses cut back, beds cleared, and bed edges re-cut to a clean line
Spring cleanup finished with fresh mulch beds and a first cut at a Connecticut home

Fall

  • Every leaf off the turf, not most of them
  • Leaves pulled out of the beds and out from under the shrubs, where they mat the worst
  • Perennials cut back and beds put to bed for winter
  • Walks, drive and patio blown completely clear, and the leaves hauled away

Built in, not added on

Our Essential Care plan runs April to December. It is weekly mowing on a fixed day with the same crew, plus the spring cleanup that opens the season and the fall cleanup that closes it. The cleanups happen because it is the season, not because you remembered to call.

  • One flat monthly amount across the season instead of separate invoices for mowing and cleanups.
  • A priority slot. Plan customers hold their place on the route when the week gets busy, including in the spring and fall rush.
  • The same crew that mows all season does the cleanups, so they already know the property, the wet corner and where the leaves pile up.
  • The Best Yard Guarantee. If something is not right, tell us. That is what the guarantee is for.

Want the beds handled every month too? Premium Care is everything in Essential plus our monthly bush and bed service: weeds pulled by hand, shrubs pruned in their window and the edges held all season.

What it costs

It depends on the size of the property and how much trimming, edging and leaf volume it carries, so there is no honest list price. We walk the property, measure it, and give you one flat monthly figure for the season. Free, on site, no obligation.

Quick answers

Are cleanups usually included in lawn care plans?

Not always. Many plans are mowing only, with cleanups billed as extras. Ask before you sign.

When do the cleanups happen?

Spring cleanup opens the season in April. Fall cleanup closes it in November, after the leaves are down, and oak-heavy lots often get two passes.

Is the monthly amount the same all season?

Yes. A flat monthly figure spreads the season out, including the cleanup months, so you can budget it.
